There is a special kind of panic that comes right after you have zipped your suitcase: did you pack the earrings that match the dress, the pouch for the silver, the spare earring backs? Jewelry is small, valuable and surprisingly easy to forget, tangle or lose on the road. This free little checklist builds a packing list for your trip. Tell it where you are going and how long you will be away, and it lists what to bring, how to protect it and what to do before you leave and when you get home.
How the Jewelry Packing Checklist works
Pick the metal you are bringing, then choose your trip type, length, how you travel and how precious your pieces are. The list updates instantly and suggests how many pieces to pack, so you bring enough variety without overpacking. Tick items off as you go and the progress bar fills up. Your ticks are remembered on this device, so you can come back to the list the night before. Use Add item for anything personal, Copy my list to paste it into your notes, and Surprise me to see how the list changes for a different trip.
Quick packing tips
- Wear your heaviest piece. A bold necklace or chunky bracelet takes up no space when it is on you.
- Thread chains through a drinking straw. Fasten the clasp and the chain stays tangle-free.
- Keep valuables in your carry-on. Never put fine or sentimental jewelry in a checked bag.
- Pack by outfit, not by mood. Plan two or three looks that mix and match, then stop.
- Separate your metals. Silver tarnishes faster when it touches other pieces, so give it its own pouch with an anti-tarnish strip.
- Take a photo of each piece before you leave. It helps with insurance and with remembering what you brought.
